COSOMA Strengthens Partnership with Malawi Police Service

COSOMA conducted training workshops for MPS on February 17th and 19th, 2025 in Mwanza and Balaka respectively. The aim of these trainings was to advance copyright protection and enforcement in Malawi.
The collaboration between COSOMA and MPS is guided by a Memorandum of Understanding established in 2021, which facilitated the secondment of six police officers to the Society’s three regional offices.
As COSOMA’s mandate encompasses the promotion and protection of the interests of authors, therefore, the partnership between the two is vital for addressing copyright infringement and fostering a culture of respect for intellectual property rights in Malawi.
Speaking during the event, Superintendents Luciano Kanchowa from Mwanza Police Station and Gideon Chisale from Balaka Police Station recognized the robust collaboration between COSOMA and MPS.
Meanwhile, the Senior Licensing Officer for COSOMA, Counsel Chikondi Banda, expressed gratitude to the MPS for their attendance and urged them to maintain their commendable efforts in supporting the Society with copyright enforcement, as this serves the interests of the nation.
